Wedding Centerpiece Ideas: Hydrangea Bouquet

This hydrangea centerpiece idea comes from a friend’s wedding, and she was so excited to have me post it on our site! I just thought that they were so beautiful that I wanted to share this idea with my readers. So if you are looking for some affordable wedding centerpiece ideas, maybe you’ll like this one!

These homemade wedding centerpieces are quite easy to make, and turn out beautiful! They are also great if you are on a tight budget, and want to keep costs down. Most of the materials needed can be found at a dollar store or second-hand store.

This centerpiece also works great for many color schemes, since hydrangeas come in blues, purples, pinks, greens and white. As you can see, this bouquet can also be accented with roses, as well as bear grass.

sewing instructions

step1

This first step is something that you can complete sometime before the wedding so you have less to do on your wedding day. Begin by tying a length of raffia around the neck of the glass vase. Be sure to make a large bow with the raffia. You want to make it big enough that it is still noticeable after all the flowers are in the vase. You may have to fan out the loops of the bow so that they are wide rather than skinny.

step2

Once you have the bow the way you like it, carefully fill the vase with your rocks or pebbles. If you are doing this several days before the wedding, this is as far as you will want to go. When your wedding day arrives, or possibly the day before, if you are sure the flowers will stay fresh, you can continue.

step3

Now fill the vase with water. Begin to arrange your flowers. You will probably want to first put the hydrangeas in place, and then fill in the spaces with a few roses. And finally add a few sprigs of bear grass in the center.

Then place your vases in the center of each table on a mirror to enhance the look of the bouquet, and you are done! These bouquets are very elegant, yet they are great inexpensive wedding centerpieces for those on a tight budget.
